Education Guide
A field trip to the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium is an adventure that provides a unique experience with many teaching opportunities.
Educational programs are offered to public and private schools, home schools, scouting programs, preschools, day care centers and other organized groups. Tours are offered during the weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday – Friday. Weekend tours are based on availability of tour guides. Activity Classes are offered weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Museum Tour - 4 years to Adult

A volunteer museum docent guides students through the Tulsa Air and Space Museum sharing information about the exhibits, which includes Tulsa’s aviation history, up-close view of a real Navy fighter jet and a glimpse into the future of space travel.
Aviation and History Tour - 50 min.
The docent will lead the students through the history of Tulsa aviation and describe how planes fly. Students will sit in an airplane cockpit.
History and Hands-On Tour - 50 min.
A docent will lead the group on an abbreviated tour of Tulsa aviation history, with about 15 minutes for students to experience the Oklahoma Museum Network interactive exhibits on their own. Students will not sit in an airplane.
Museum Plus Tour - 1¾ Hours
Docents will lead the group on an hour plus tour of aviation history and interactive exhibits. Students will learn how a plane flies as they sit in an airplane cockpit and are allotted approximately thirty minutes to experience the Oklahoma Museum Network interactive exhibits on their own.
Maximum class size is limited to 50 students.
Activity Classes
(Classes are not offered during the summer months.)
One hour classes introduce students to various science concepts including Newton's Three Laws of Motion, flight simulators and the solar system. Follow the link to the activity class descriptions.

Planetarium Show - All Ages

Planetariums are not what they used to be. In our state-of-the-art theater, students are seated under a 50-foot dome where constellations are identified. Then, they can imagine being whisked through space as they view a multi-dimensional film exploring the universe. Shown throughout the year is a selection of presentations that begin on the hour. Admittance is not allowed after the show has started. Duration: 45 minutes. Click here for a list of planetarium presentations.
Space Shuttle Mission
4th Grade through Adult $400 per 3 hour session. Class
size: 6 to 18 participants.

Students experience the importance of teamwork as they launch a simulated Space Shuttle mission. Participating as a crew member or as a mission control specialist, students undertake the same steps as NASA to launch the space shuttle. After the mission, the group discusses their performance as a team. Prerequisite activities required.
Hands-On Exhibit 
Students explore the extreme new exhibit that provides a hands-on experience of how machines work. Pulleys, gears and levers are used to lift, convert energy, and move objects. Students will enjoy the adventure of experiencing the mechanical advantages simple and complex machines play in everyday life! This exhibit is available with the Hands-On or Museum Plus Tour. Extreme Machines is one of five rotating exhibits provided by the Oklahoma Museum Network, funded by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
